Finishing the neckline

My pattern says “knit 86 stitches around neck edge. I have 66 stitches retained on needles from the front, back and two sleeves. How do I go about adding the additional 20 stitches?

Hi Wendy,

It looks like you have to increase on the first round of knitting. Increase a stitch every 4 sts and you should get up to 86. Then the next round you can do ribbing or whichever the pattern indicates.
