Jade Diamond Short Skirt Knitting Pattern For Girls Ages 2-10 

Description: A super cute short skirt for girls age 2-10 years-old. The upper portion of the skirt is knitted in rows in a beautiful diamond and garter stitch pattern.  The lower portion of the skirt is worked in rounds using circular needle.  Knitters can adjust length of the skirt according to their specific needs.  The waist of the skirt is supported with an elastic band for a more snuggle fit.

Skill level: Intermediate to somewhat difficult

Gauge: 5.5 sts/inch over stockinette st using size US #6 (4mm) needle

Measurement

Waist: (small = 19”, medium = 21”, large = 23” and extra large = 25”)

Length: The one in the photo is about 9 inches long and it’s slightly below a two years-old knee.  Use this Children Size Chart to determine the length of your skirt if you needed.

Sizes: Small (2-4 yo), Medium (5-6 yo), Large (7-8 yo), extra large (9-10 yo).  

Don’t feel intimidated by the intricate look of this skirt.  It is more easier than you thought.  Many of stitches using in this pattern are very common to knitters.  The only two difficult sts are; C2B (Cable 2 Back) and C2F (Cable 2 Front).  I have made a mini tutorial for these stitches which can be viewed on my Youtube channel at; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_cqW0HtTTY.

Materials

1. 2 (3, 4, 6) 50g/178yds/165m balls of Berroco Comfort DK or sport weight yarn or your choice  with the same gauge mentioned above.  Machine washable is a plus.
2. 18 inches circular knitting needle size US # 6 (4mm) for small and medium size, use 22 inches circular needle for larger size.
3. Row counter
4. 3/8 inch wide elastic waistband to support the waist
5. Needle and thread to stitch elastic together (if you don’t have a sewing machine)
6. Tapestry needle to seam the upper portion and waistband casing
