Question

Hi, I'm trying to make some booties and the pattern uses the seed stitch. The problem I'm having is how to increase at the end of a row and maintain the knit 1 pearl 1 pattern of the seed stitch on every row and stitch.

I know how to knit f&b for the knit stitch and the purl stitch and I've tried to knit and pearl in one stitch to make it two but it isn't working.

There must be more ways to increase at the end of a row but I can't seem to find anyone who knows what they are.

Answer

Hi Melanie,

Thank you for your question and visit. Sorry for a little delay.
I don't think there is a proper way to do this. Knitters are very creative and I'm sure each person has one's own preference.

I don't remember when the last time I had to make an increase in a moss stitch! But I like the solution I came up with and I hope you do too.

I knit a little example of seed stitch and did experimental stitches with increases. I did k into front and back, purl and knit into back of the same st and k and p in the same st. I didn't like any of them. The I tried adding a single cast on end the end of the row and I loved the result!

So, now you can give it a try and see what you think.
Please watch this little video to see the end of the row single cast on part.
