Shaping armhole on the back of sideways knitted jacket



Pattern JB462
I am working on the back of a jacket/cardigan.
Why does pattern state to increase at one side only of work?
First time knitting sideways and it doesn't compute with me.

It seems strange at first but once you get to the other arm side, you will see it. I'll suggest you make a rough sketch out of the pattern to help you see it better. It always helps me.
