The pattern has a multiple of 24 sts. in order to complete a set of cable. If you were to increase 1 more set, you would gain another 12 inches. That would make a 66" wide blanket. You can knit it up a bit longer than the pattern suggest. You could do 66 X 66.
It would be perfect if the pattern call for a multiple of 12 sts, but this wouldn't work.
So, if you want to do the 66" wide, you can just cast on extra 24 sts and then follow the same pattern.
