Thanks Sue, for sharing your USM's knitting problem with us. This is very helpful information. When I first started using my USM, I had some trouble getting the knitting plate back and forth and it usually got stuck around the joining of the carriage. I trimmed out the area with a knife and smooth it with sandpaper, then polished it with wax. I was able to work on it fine since then.
The machine then went under the bed for about decade then last month I pulled it out and started knitting a long scarf. By the time I finished, my arms were sore for days. Didn't know USM also works as an exercise machine, :).
