First, find out how many stitches you have within an area you need to increase. Then take that number of stitches and divide it by 16. The sum of it indicates the distance between each increase.
For example, you want to increase 16 sts into existing 32 sts. you divide 32 by 16 and you get 2. Now you know that you can increase every 2 sts to make it even. So when you do you actual increase it will be like this;
*work 2st, inc 1; repeat from to the end. Make sure you do "M1" up "make 1 " increase. It's to pick up a yarn between the two stitches and knit into the front of it.
