I have never done this myself. It's a very unusual stitch.
Normally, the author would include this type of stitch in the pattern since it's not a common to us.
I need to know how many stitches you'll get out of the KTBL 3.
If you do it 3 times, you'll end up with 5 sts. total. If that's the case then this should be right.
you first knit 1 to back loop and don't slip it off the needle. Bring yarn to front and knit again to the same loop. Bring yarn in front and knit once more into the same loop and slip all sts off the left needle. You should have 5 sts total.
