Reading a knitting pattern

Hi I'm knitting a cardigan I'm doing the right front of the cardigan, it says to knit to last 3 stitches and leave the rem on a holder which I have done but by looking at it surely the 3 stitches should be the last 3 on the needle and not the first 3 as I'm doing the right front... I'm very confused

Hi Sue,

Perhaps, the 3 sts on the holder are for the armhole reduction. They will be knitted off later on.
